Bride of Frankenstein

This project is my personal take on the Bride of Frankenstein, inspired by Elsa Lanchester’s unforgettable look and performance in the original classic film. I’ve always been fascinated by how powerful that image is: elegant, fragile, theatrical, frightened, and dangerous at the same time.

My goal was not to simply copy the original design, but to build a character that keeps the spirit of that iconic silhouette while giving her a slightly more sensual, dramatic, and uncanny presence.

This was also my first serious attempt at creating hair for a character, so it became an important learning part of the project. I wanted the hairstyle to remain recognizable and iconic, while still fitting the overall sculpted and cinematic look of my version of the Bride.

The final renders were presented in black and white to stay close to the atmosphere of classic horror cinema. I wanted the lighting and poses to feel like stills from an old gothic film: dramatic, tense, and a little uncomfortable.

The dress was one of the most challenging parts of the project. I wanted it to feel elegant and sculptural while still working with dramatic posing, so I combined rigging, manual adjustments, and cloth-based tests to get the final shapes for the skirt and folds.
